Kingston – Wolfe Island

Posted by on June 22, 2012

On Tuesday we used again the rideshare system to get to Kingston. Kingston is a small town on the shore of the Ontario Lake and the St Lawrence River in the region of Thousand Islands. It reminded me of the towns near the Bodensee. Kingston is very well known for the sailing boats and many say it’s the capital for sailing on fresh water.

We actually did not stay in Kingston but our CS host Ben, stays on Wolfe Island. There is a ferry which goes every hour from Kingston to Wolfe Island and which is free of charge. Wolfe Island is about 30km long and 10km wide so it’s perfect to be explored by bicycle, which we did as Ben and his friends were so kind to lend us their bicycles. Yesterday evening they organized a party to celebrate the solstice where we had a lot of fun.

One amazing thing we’ve seen or done

Maybe it’s not something amazing but the region of Thousand Islands is very nice and definitely something to see so yesterday we took a boat cruise in this region. That was the main reason why we came to Kingston in the first place. Take a look at the pictures in the gallery.
